In order to call yourself a geologist you must complete field camp, a class spent entirely outside, proving that you understand everything you read and wrote in the classroom. The field camp at my school was approximately six weeks long and was conducted in various locations around Utah (which is the best place to study geology, by-the-way). Field camp is one of the best and most intense things I’ve ever done, and it wasn’t until I’d survived it, that I gained the confidence not only to call myself a geologist but to be one as well.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis series is about my experiences gaining that confidence and proving to myself that I was the real deal.
